The South Loch Ness Trail was completed by Destination Loch Ness in August 2011. It is 28 miles (45 km) in length stretching from Loch Tarff near Fort Augustus to Torbreck on the edge of Inverness. Suitable for walkers, cyclists and horse riders, it follows good trails, rough paths and minor roads through the varied landscapes of South Loch Ness and in places, such as the Fair Haired Lad's Pass, affords superb views of Loch Ness. along or near the route there are a number of excellent places to stay and eat as well as opportunities to explore a number of local walks such as those at the Falls of Foyers, Inverfarigaig, Whitefield and Dores.
